James Wagoner
Head Coach

Jim is the founder of Bellarmine Mock Trial and has been practicing law since 1976. He is of council at Fogle Keller & Purdy focusing in civil litigation. He earned his bachelor of arts degree at Bellarmine and his juris doctor degree at the Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville. Jim has been recognized on multiple occasions for his outstanding contributions to college mock trial and in 2007 was elected to the AMTA Coaches Hall of Fame.

Billy Merrifield
Assistant Coach

Billy was a Bellarmine Mock Trial member from 2000-2004 and has been practicing law since 2007. He is currently an associate at Hebel & Hornung, P.S.C in Louisville, Kentucky.  Billy earned his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Bellarmine University, and received his Juris Doctorate from the Louis D. Brandeis School of Law at the University of Louisville in 2007. Billy is licensed to practice in Kentucky and Indiana and is a member of the Indiana and Kentucky Bar Associations.

Shamir Patel
Assistant Coach

Shamir was an active member of Bellarmine Mock Trial from 2010 to 2012. He then received his Bachelors and Masters degrees in Computer Engineering and Computer Science from University of Louisville J.B. Speed School. He currently works as a Software Engineer in Louisville, KY and also acts as an assistant coach of Bellarmine Mock Trial.
